Following the breakout success of the OnePlus One we're rather excited about the OnePlus 2 and we may have just found a reason to get even more excited, as it looks like the new handset could have a premium design. According to "a source familiar with the situation", speaking to Business Insider, the OnePlus 2 will have a metal frame. Though the article goes on to contrast this with the polycarbonate back on the OnePlus One, so it's not clear whether they actually mean a metal frame or a metal back. Either way, metal trumps plastic and with even Samsung moving to premium designs with the Galaxy S6 it would make sense for OnePlus to do the same.
More metal, more money
On the flip side, one of the big selling points of the OnePlus One is its low price tag and the source goes on to say that a more premium build would drive the price up, though apparently the plans haven't been finalised yet. We'd previously heard that the OnePlus 2 would "surprise people" and a premium build could certainly do that, as could a higher price tag, though not in such a positive way. Hopefully if the OnePlus 2 is more expensive it won't be a drastic rise, as it probably wouldn't prove as compelling with a flagship price. We may have a while to wait before we know for sure what it will cost or how premium it will be though, as supposedly it's been delayed until the third quarter of 2015.
